Photos courtesy of Janis Ruby

I would like to thank Janis Ruby for sending me these amazing photos!

This was a vanilla chiffon cake covered, filled with vanilla buttercream and decorated with rolled fondant.
Size: 6" wide by 4" tall   serving size: ~8

Equipment used:

Virgin White white rolled fondant
Americolor gel food colouring:  teal, pink, red, blue, back, and brown
Small cloud cookie cutter
Letter cookie cutters
round cookie cutter
Sharp scalpel exacto knife

How I decorated the cake:
  • I crumb coated and covered the whole cake with teal vanilla cream.  Gel food colouring: Americolor in teal
  • Printed out 2 clip art or coloring book images of Super Mario face.  Tip: use plain black and white images.
  • I took one of the images and cut out Super Mario's face.
  • Then I rolled out skin colored fondant.
  • I the Super Mario cutout on top of the fondant, cut around the image, and place it on top of the prepared cake.
  • I used the second image as template to cut out Mario's eyes, nose, hat, moustache and sideburns.
  • I then cut out clouds and letterings and place them on the side of the cake.
  • I also sprinkled some yellow star sprinkles to add some sparkle on the side of the cake.

Minion Cupcake Cake

This is how I made my Ube (purple yam) Minion cupcake..  Enjoy! Come see how I made it in this youtube video.  Don't forget to subscribe for more updates! Used Wilton tip 1M to create the rose pattern on the cupcake.  Start pipping from middle cupcake and out. To create the eyes...  You will need 3 different sizes of round cookie cutter (3", 2.5, 1 inches, white fondant, grey fondant (goggle frame), light brown fondant (iris), and black fondant, large ball tool, and piping gel.  Cut out a 3" circle out of grey and white fondant.  Set aside in large ziplock bag.  Cut out a 2.5" circle in the middle of the grey circle.  This will be the frames for the minions goggles. With a small brush apply a small amount of water along the perimeter of the white circle.  Lay down the grey frames on top of the white circle.  Using a ball tool (See pic bellow) make an indent on the bottom centre of the white circle.  Place the brown 1" circle in the di

Cookie Monster and Flower cupcakes for Kyle and Kyrelle.

Cookie Monster cupcake with chocolate chip cookies for Kyle's 5th birthday.   Barbie pink Hydrangeas and Peonies for Kyrelle's Christening. Took more than four hours to make all 24 cookie monster cupcakes and an hour to make the flower cupcakes.  It would  be faster but I want it to be perfect and dainty looking. After making the the first batch of cupcakes I realized I don't have eggs for the second batch of cupcakes.  Then I found this "Eggless Chocolate Cupcake" recipe (http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,176,131177-253194,00.html) @ cooks.com.  I looked at several recipes and I settled on this one because the recipe calls for vinegar and looking back to elementary baking soda plus vinegar equals fizz.  I tweaked it a little. Luckily, it turned out great!
