Old Dutch Caramel Corn

If you love caramel popcorn this is a good shortcut recipe.  My mom got this yummy recipe from her co-worker (also found in the Old Dutch website).  I made one revision.  I replaced the corn syrup with the same amount of honey.  If you have neither honey nor corn syrup you can make a simple sugar before continuing on to step 2.   Instruction for simple sugar:  In a large saucepan add 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/8 cup water.  Cook in low heat until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is clear. 1 cup butter  1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup honey 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp baking soda one 175g bad of Old Dutch popcorn twist Pour popcorn twists into a large roaster pan and set aside. In a large saucepan bring to boil the butter, brown sugar, and syrup.  Cook for 2 minutes. Add baking soda.  This will foam up and the mixture will thicken.  (This is why you will need a large saucepan.)  Allow the foam to cook down slightly and remove from heat. Add vanilla and stir. P

Hello Kitty Chocolate Bread House

      My daughter loves all pink and cutesy things.  One day she asked for my help to make gingerbread house.  I know its traditionally a Christmas activity but we are too busy to make them.  Since its going to be Valentines day we decided to make a valentines theme "chocolate bread" house instead of ginger flavoured ones. Chocolate Bread 6 cups all purpose flour 1 cup cocoa powder 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 cup softened butter 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 2 eggs 1 cup corn syrup 1/3 cups water 1. Sift all the dry ingredients together. 2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. 3.  Add eggs, corn syrup, and water.  Beat until mixed together 4.  Add half of the dry ingredients into the butter, sugar, eggs mixture. 5.  Change mixer attachment to dough hook.   Begin adding the rest of the flour.  If mix is too dry add more water if the mix is too soft add more flour.  The dough should come together but not too s

Soccer Cake

About 4" tall by 8" in diameter..  Light chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and chocolate buttercream.  Figurine is made with fondant.  To harden faster I dipped the fondant in tylose.
